Well! The fairest diva of them all controlled the The Powerhouse stage on Saturday night. Aptly introduced by DJ Bigga as the one and only, the legend that is Adeva delivered a soul-busting vocal entrée that made you say ‘whoa’ to her hit song Where Is The Love. She got the crowd in unison to lift a two-finger salute to the late Frankie Knuckles whom she collaborated with on her ’95 hit song Whadda U Want before raising a key for her song.
Belting out one of my favourites Respect had everyone singing along with her even getting the crowd involved to sing the falsettos. I think the moment that had everyone tickled was the dressing down of fan who came on stage for a little lesson in respect Adeva style! Such was the spectacle it even had Tony Humphries giggling and enjoying the tongue-in-cheek fun and standing at over six feet would you deny this songstress anything? I don’t think so – all part of the performance as she burst into her next hit Warning.
A lot of female solidarity was in the house when Adeva got all the females to unleash their inner diva’s before bursting into song I Thank You. Hot on the heels of that was another big hitter Musical Freedom which she did with Paul Simpson. A saucy performance with great hit songs amazing vocals absolutely one of my best memories of the weekend.
