Renight.com headquarters hasn’t caught itself from the last Heritage Weekender in Southport and yet we are all a buzz for the next instalment down in Minehead as edition 52 is on the roll-out! Could it be anymore exciting than the last one? Hell yes! Kicking off holiday park season in the longest running urban and dance music festival is a line-up that is hard to beat.
We have none other than soulful crooners Jarrod Lawson and Shaun Escoffery no doubt serving up lashings of smoothness. Amping up the jazz corner I cannot wait to see jazz-fusion artist Swindle who’s track with songstress Terri Walker, ‘Running Cold‘ is a cross between P-Funkadelic and Zapp on acid, that kid has got form. David Rodigan the reggae dub-plate specialist is back, no doubt he’ll be showing the youth them how it’s done. Trevor Nelson, DJ EZ, Ronnie Herel the urban staple diet are back. We are certainly ramped with excitement as it’s The Reflex‘s debut weekender – there’ll be disco revisions a plenty, as he will very much compliment Chicago’s finest Sadar Bahar.
Stable favourites come in the form a DJ everyone loves Ron Trent, alongside Rich Medina who we hear had an absolute killer session at SuncéBeat 05 and deep-tech from Deetron is sure to keep the bass-heads happy. The electic will be some stealth manoeuvres in the capable hands of vocalist/artist/producer Seven Davis Jnr and the unusual are Nightmares On Wax, German acts Henrik Schwarz and Kyodai. A sprinkle of all things South African in house music will see Black Coffee and Culoe De Song man the decks for a tribal experience not to be missed.
And can I contain my glee the Up North team has pulled out the mother of all hat tricks already? Hell no! We have Masters At Work – Kenny Dope and Louie Vega in the house, congratulations to Kenny on giving birth to triplets hopefully by then he’s got the hang of his wee ones feeding routine bless him. Speaking of triplets we see house music’s very own triple tryst 3 Kings Of House with David Morales, Louie Vega and Tony Humphries. If you saw the latter two play at the Heritage Weekender you will know what to expect, add Morales to the mix and prepare yourself for something explosive.
It’s all triple ahoy over there with last but not least in the already exciting line-up comes our favourite DJ, Kerri Chandler going back to back with none other than Chez Damier who’ll definitively give us the medicine to our prescription. A man who is part of the true story of the Detroit techno scene. Oh I feel some history is already going to be made with this one, it’s going to be big folks. Tickets are flying, what are you waiting for?
